We hope that you will be as excited about View by Cohort as we are. Let’s talk about this new feature as well as a few additional items included in this release.
View By Cohort – Identify The Locations In A Placeset That Are Frequented By Cohorts
As a user of Placecast we’ve heard that one of the most important things that you want to discover is which places best match the Cohort or Audience that you care about. We’ve added new functionality that allows you to identify how each individual place best matches a cohort and build a new Place Set of these best match places within the Placecast Dashboard.
How to View By Cohort
There are two ways to access data by Cohort. Both begin by pulling Placecast Data for a Placeset. Once the Placeset’s Dashboard is visible, you can:
1. Access either the “Demographics” or “Consumer Profile” views on your dashboard and identify the graph that contains the cohort you would like to target.
Then click on the bar associated with that cohort within the graph. In this case, “People identifying as Black/African American.
That will open the View by Cohort data table.
2. Alternatively, you can click on the “View by Cohort” button:
Clicking that button opens the list of available cohorts for you to choose from.
From this result screen you can select places that match based on Total Cohort Visits, Cohort % of the Population Visits, or the Cohort Index. Each of these columns is sortable to display the results that score highest (or lowest) on that individual metric.
*NOTE: If a place does not have data on that cohort then it will not be included in the View by Cohort data table. This can lead to scenarios where the number of total items listed in this table is smaller than the size of your original Place Set.
Users can select places and create a new Place Set from these sub selections of their Place Set.
Once named and created this new (sub) Place Set is available for use just like any other Place Set.

City, County, and Neighborhood Geography in Layers and Display Options in Explorer Now includes contextual State Information
We recently rolled out the ability to include City and Neighborhood geography polygons as a map layer in Explorer but it was pointed out to us that this created some confusion because many states have Cities and Neighborhoods with the same name. Now City, County, and Neighborhood options include the state that they are part of to make it easier for you to identify the correct one without any guess work.
